Nazlet El Semman Residents Relocated Ahead of Area’s Major Renovation

As part of Egypt’s sweeping plan to develop and beautify its touristic and cultural areas, the residents of Nazlet al-Samman - an informal settlement that sits by the Great Pyramids of Giza - have been relocated to the nearby Hadayek el Ahram residential area. With the forthcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Giza area is set for a complete revamp in preparation of the much-awaited opening.

With the completion of the transfer, the country plans to completely demolish and renovate the area, but details of what the end result of this major renovation has not been disclosed, though the residents subject to the move have, reportedly, been moved into fully-equipped, fully-furnished new homes.
