Ministry of Health to Provide Free Liver Cancer Detection Services

The Ministry of Health and Population is providing free medical services to 90,000 Egyptians who have been diagnosed with liver cancer. The cost of this service typically ranges from EGP 30,000 to EGP 90,000 per month for each patient, depending on the type of medicine the patient has been prescribed.

These free services are a continuation of the ministry’s initiative to treat patients with liver cancer or Cirrhosis, a form of liver damage, which began in September 2019. These free examinations have been held at 74 follow-up centres across the country, and were provided at four-month intervals to monitor patients’ health status.

According to Waheed Doss, Head of the National Committee to Combat Hepatitis Viruses, the programme aims to alleviate the suffering of patients and their families, and is part of the country's efforts to develop more inclusive healthcare.
