Mersal Foundation Wins $93,000 International AstraZeneca Award for Work With Lung Cancer Patients

Mersal Foundation, one of Egypt’s foremost non-government organizations working to provide care in the medical sector, has been awarded with a USD 93,000 award from international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. The monetary award was given in collaboration with Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) in recognition of Mersal’s work with lung cancer patients in Egypt.

Mersal’s lung cancer campaign uses a number of streams to provide support for patients, including a nurse training programme, a call centre, and a specialized app that provides information and resources for patients.

Heba Rashed, the CEO and founder of Mersal Foundation, took to her Facebook page to make the announcement where she revealed that in addition to the USD 93,000 prize, the company also received a USD 10,000 donation that will go towards helping Mersal aid those afflicted with the Coronavirus.
