Luxor's Sphinx Avenue Parade to Become an Annual Event

Thousands of years ago, the Opet Festival saw golden barques carried down the Sphinx Avenue; a majestic procession that brought statues of the gods from Karnak Temple to Luxor Temple.

Upon the reopening of these newly restored Luxor monuments on November 25th, this ancient ceremony was recreated for the majestic Sphinx Avenue Parade, bringing Egyptian heritage blazing back to life. Song and dance inspired by Ancient Egyptian writing lifted our souls as fireworks flared above, and a showcase of special effects welcomed the larger-than-life golden barques to their final destination.

And it seems like it won't be the last time this happens. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has released a brief announcement, stating their intention to bring the parade back as an annual event, one where tourists will be able to gather and watch the entire ceremony in person. Details are still light as of this moment, but we're already preparing our travel plans for Luxor in November 2022.
