Long Delayed Kafr Dawoud-Sadat City Railway Resumes

After a decade-long delay, a project to build a railway line between Kafr Dawoud village in El Beheira and Sadat City in Menoufia has been revived at a cost of EGP 650 million. The project will link Sadat City to the current rail network to facilitate the movement of passengers between Menoufia and Cairo. The Ministry of Transportation also plans on linking Sadat City to the port of Alexandria, to enable trade into the area.

Sadat City was established by the Urban Communities Authority north-west of Cairo to preserve agricultural lands from urban sprawl and spread out the population density of the Delta region, and has been rapidly growing through industrial investments to attract citizens with new homes and job opportunities.
