Largest Hospital in Upper Egypt Begins Trial Ahead of Official Opening

Touted as the biggest hospital of its kind in Upper Egypt, the new Sohag University Hospital has started trial runs ahead of its official launch.

Though no timeline for the official opening of the hospital has been disclosed, the trial will first operate on the hospital’s 50 outpatient clinics, with a view to identifying any deficiencies or shortcomings in a project that is estimated to have cost EGP 500 million.

The hospital isn’t quite complete, however, with much of the equipment still to be installed, including 50 dialysis machines recently donated by the Tahya Misr Fund. It's understood that among the hospital's facilities are intensive care rooms and nurseries, as well as ultrasound and radiology departments.
