Iris Comes to Sahel Bearing Robert Babicz and David Hasert

Egypt is often mistaken for the bottom of the MENA barrel. The big franchises that call Dubai home seldom migrate to the city of a billion toktoks for some incomprehensible reason. However, we know they’re going to come around; after all, Egypt is still a diamond in the rough, a teenager in country years, making baby turtle steps towards development – and stumbling.

One brand that is willing to go on a limb for us is Iris. The popular restaurant and cocktail bar franchise that has galvanized Dubai and Beirut’s savvy denizens is now gearing up to launch in Cairo in October 2016, but first they are setting sail into Sahel’s azure waters with Iris Beach Party! The mammoth event, which takes place in Marassi on Friday August 12th from 1 PM to 11 PM, boasts two of the world’s most sought after musicians: Polish techno and acid house music producer and live performer Robert Babicz, and the godfather of Cologne’s nightlife scene David Hasert. Homegrown favourite Special Kay will also have his time on deck, so rest assured local talent will be duly represented in the stellar line-up.

And that’s not all you need to sharpen your teeth for; Iris’ world-class signature cocktails and beach delicacies will also be making a lengthy appearance. “We are serving up Iris’ quality food and signature cocktails, we are even bringing bartenders all the way from Beirut to get them just right,” the man behind the extravaganza, Ihab Shazly, tells us.  So we know this is a bit too much for you and you cannot contain your excitement right now, but you need to curb your enthusiasm and be on your best behaviour at Iris Beach Party. We don’t want to scare them away, now, do we?
