Hurghada & Sharm El Sheikh to Convert All Cars & Buses to Natural Gas

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has announced that all cars and buses in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada will run on natural gas or electricity, in a push to turn the two destinations into green cities.

The decision follows the news that COP27, the annual United Nations conference tackling climate change, will be held in Sharm El Sheikh in 2022. The UN summit is arguably the most important environmental ongoing of the year worldwide, with member states of the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Climate Agreement coming together to discuss and negotiate the implementation of their agreements.

In preparation for the move, over 1,000 natural gas stations will be built by the end of March 2022. No set date has been announced for the ban of diesel and regular gas cars in the two cities.
