Following the government's decision to open up restaurants, cafés, cinemas, theatres and sporting clubs, gyms will join in and reopen starting this Saturday June 27th.
Ah, the gym. A second home for many, and a focal point of self-consciousness for others. However you feel about the endless melody of grunting weightlifters, it looks like the gym hiatus is coming to an end as the government issued a decision for gyms across Egypt are to reopen their doors on June 27th, in line with the reopening of restaurants, cafés, sporting clubs, cinemas and theatres. But, once again – with the slow reintroduction of everything opening up - some rules will apply. Gyms will only be allowed to open at 25% capacity, between 6 AM and 9 PM. Health and safety measures are to be implemented in gyms, including continual sanitation of the space (but hey, even if there wasn't a global pandemic, you already wipe after yourself when you're done with that weight lift bench as a matter of public courtesy, right? Rrrrright?).
These new rules are subject to change in the future depending on the state of COVID-19 in Egypt, so keep it locked to #CairoScene for future updates.
