Gold Prices in Egypt Reach an All-Time High

Gold is — and always has been — the world’s favourite safe bet. During times of uncertainty, insecurity, economic or political upset, war, devaluations and more, gold has always come out shining so speak. And on top of all that, it's really pretty.

But you're not here for an encyclopaedia entry. You're here because you want to know that these days, gold prices in Egypt - and around the world for that matter - have been reaching all-time highs. On Wednesday, August 5th, the gold division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) announced that the price of 24-karat gold amounted to EGP 1,046 per gram, while the per-gram prices of 21- and 18- karat gold registered at EGP 915 and 784, respectively. For comparison’s sake, if we look at it globally, the prices of the precious metal have gained USD 38 to USD 2,059 per ounce.

So this means if you dabble in the stock market, hold on to your gold. Or if you've been ruffling through your Grandmama's jewellery box, make sure to hoard anything vaguely yellow and shiny.
