Global Innovation Index Ranks Egypt Up by 20 Places in 2022

The Global Innovation Index, a ranking of innovation capabilities and results of world economies, has moved Egypt up from 93rd place in 2021 to 89th place in 2022, moving it up the list by five places. They also ranked Egypt up in its ‘Creative Output’ sub-category by 20 places, from 101st in 2021 to 84th in 2022.

The ranking tool was established in 2007 by non-profit business school INSEAD and World Business magazine. The scale takes into account innovation in various fields including science, technology, and sustainable development, and factors their impact into evaluating various global economic and developmental efforts. The index’s calculations take into account the correlation between development and innovation, ranking Egypt in 14th place amongst 36 lower-middle-income group economies.
