GEM Receive Special Braille Certificate for Inclusivity Measures

Ahead of its long-awaited opening, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has received recognition for its efforts in inclusivity. A special appreciation certificate was presented to the museum in Braille by the Museum Administration for People with Special Needs, which works to make cultural institutions more accessible to all Egyptians.

The two parties have been working closely together for some time in order to enable the museum to offer an array of facilities that would expand its accessibility for the differently-abled, something that the majority of museums in Egypt currently lack.

The museum has effectively moved in over 55,000 artefacts into its halls thus far as it inches closer to completion every day. Last month, the GEM announced that it was around 98 percent complete with hopes of finally opening its doors at the end of 2021.
