Free Entry into Mohamed Abdel Wahab Museum in Honour of His 118th Birthday

In honour of the late ‘La Msh Ana El Abky’ singer’s birthday, the Mohamed Abdel Wahab Museum will be opening its doors free of charge for visitors to come marvel at Egypt’s musical history, personified.

The site will be free to visit from March 8th to March 13th, from 10 AM to 3 PM, and serves as a narration of his life’s journey. The museum features the Hall of Memories, which takes us through his childhood and his rise in the world of Egyptian music and cinema, including his close friendships with legends like The Dark Nightingale, Abdel Halim Hafez, and his best work with Umm Kalthoum on tracks like Enta Omri.

Throughout his lifetime, the musician composed over 1,802 songs and earned a reputation as an innovator, laying down a foundation for the coming Tarab classics we’ve come to know and love. During his career, he composed the Tunisian and Libyan national anthems, and was the first person to incorporate Western music styles into Tarab, such as waltz and rock and roll. If you’re ready to take a romantic trip down the Golden Age, this is your chance.
