Everything You Need to Know About the Cairo International Book Fair

The Cairo International Book Fair will officially welcome bibliophiles all over Egypt on January 26th, bringing together a slew of literary gems, writers, publishers, and storytellers under one roof until  February 6th. And with countless books to be read and cultural events to witness, here’s everything you need to know about the largest and oldest book fair in the MENA region.

The Ministry of Transport is collaborating with the fair to transport civilians to the venue at New Cairo’s International Exhibitions Centre, and will provide seven bus lines across Cairo. The bus lines include more than 20 pickup points including Abdel Moneim Riyad square, Giza Square, Cairo University, Abbasiya, and Kasr Al Ainy.

The fair’s 54th edition will honour renowned writer and poet Salah Jahine and will host more than 700 publishers and almost 3,000 artistic performances during its two-week run. To accommodate as many readers during Egypt’s annual celebration of literature, the Egyptian Publishers Association is providing payment plans in collaboration with Banque Misr to provide machines throughout the fair that will allow guests to pay over nine months without interest.

The Cairo International Book Fair also launched a new app to make its cultural events accessible to the public, as well as allow users to gain access to the fair’s family library and a VR showcase of renowned author Kamel Kilany’s story ‘Abu Kharboush’. The app is available through Google Play and will soon be available on iOS as well.

The event will welcome visitors daily from 10 AM to 9 PM, with tickets available for EGP 5 through the Cairo International Book Fair’s website.
