El Moez Street is Getting a New Lighting System

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced a plan to redevelop the historic Fatimid area, El Muiz li-Din Allah El Fatimi street (or just El Muiz Street, if you're feeling casual). The ministry will soon revamp the entire lighting system in the old Cairo area in order to raise the efficiency of the thousand-year-old district.

Brigadier Engineer Hisham Samir, the Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, will be overseeing the Historic Cairo Development Project. All work will be directly carried out by the Ministry of Military Production, and will include directed lighting on the facades of historic buildings, street lighting in smaller internal paths, and will all be implemented keeping in mind the issue of identity preservation. Islamic Cairo is already gorgeous, and now it’s about to get a whole lot more Instagrammable.
