Egyptian Superstars to Perform in Riyadh in Honour of Hani Shenouda

In one special night, the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia is bringing together Egypt’s music giants to perform in Riyadh to honour renowned Egyptian musician and composer Hani Shenouda.

In celebration of Hani Shenouda’s 80th birthday, elite Egyptian musicians were invited to share the stage in a star studded tribute concert titled ‘Memories’. It’s the first concert to ever feature Amr Diab, the ‘King’ Mohammed Mounir, Angham, Ahmed Adaweya, Mai Farouk, Moustafa Hagag, and Gen-z’s beloved Egyptian rock band Cairokee all at the same time.

Hani Shenouda is one of the pioneers of Egyptian contemporary music. Not only has he founded and led one of Egypt’s first modern bands, ‘Al Massriyeen’ in 1977, but he also composed many classic film scores which we still resonate with today, such as ‘Shams El Zanaty’, ‘Ghareeb F Beity’, and ‘Al Mashbouh’. Additionally, his music passed well beyond Egypt’s borders, making a remarkable presence in the popular American sitcom ‘Ramy’ which featured tracks like ‘Louga 79’.

Shenouda helped establish the career of many successful Egyptian artists. He brought ‘Al Hadaba’, the most admired Amr Diab, to fame in Cairo from Port Said with his debut album ‘Ya Tareek’. He also introduced Mohammed Mounir with his album ‘3lmony Eneik’.

‘Memories’ is set to take place on March 8th in Riyadh’s Abu Bakr Salem Theatre, with 130 musicians to participate under the leadership of Maestro Hani Farahat and directed by the famed Khairy Bishara. The concert will be aired on MBC alongside six other TV channels.
