Egyptian Squash Juniors Bring Home 20 Medals to Top 2020 Dunlop British Open Medal Table
We start our champions off early!
The Egyptian Squash Junior Delegation returned to Cairo last night having won 20 medals at the 2020 Dunlop British Junior Open, which took place in Birmingham, UK from January 2nd to January 6th.
Returning with seven gold medals out of a possible 10, in addition to six silver and seven bronze medals, the Egyptian delegation far exceeded the number of medals won by the other countries in attendance.
The gold medallists for the U19 category were Jana Shiha and Mustafa Al-Sirti for the Girls and the Boys tournaments, respectively. “It feels great, I have dreamt of winning this tournament since I was 10!” Shiha told Tom Pilcher for the tournament’s official website.
For the Girls’ U17, Sana Ibrahim also took home the gold, as did 13-year-old Fayrouz Abu Al-Khair for the U15 and three-time winner Amina Orfi for U13. As for the Boys' U13, the gold went to Youssef Salem and for the Boys' U11, it went to Yassin Koreitem.
Accompanying the young rising stars were members of the Egyptian Squash Federation’s Board of Directors Eng. Ashraf Qenawy, Omar Al-Morshedy and Eng. Hani Hamouda.
