Egyptian Girls Make Google Science Fair Finals

A team of Egyptian women have made it to the Google Science Fair finals to represent the MENA region, with their concept being a computerised glove to translate sign language into text and speech.

Sara, Nourhan, and Asmaa all attend the Maadi STEM School for Girls, and their life-changing device was chosen by us as one of the coolest things from this year's MakerFaire at the GrEEK Campus. The brainiac ladies are out to improve life for the deaf and mute populations in Egypt, where there are little to no services available for them.

Google's Science Fair is a worldwide competition with prizes of up to $50,000 in scholarships – the winners will be announced in September.

Our fingers are crossed for our three young geniuses.
