Egypt is moving forward with a new plan to attract people to El Wadi El Gedid, aka New Valley. While the governorate is rich in palm trees and other natural resources, and is so large that it covers nearly 48% of Egypt’s landmass, it only has a population of a couple hundred thousand. Meanwhile, Cairo has over a hundred million people.
The state’s strategy includes granting concessions and enterprises for thousands of families that would guarantee an adequate income, and investing in job opportunities within the mining and agricultural industries.
