Egypt to Establish Three Pedestrian Bridges on Fayoum Road
Three pedestrian footbridges on the Fayoum Road, heading from El-Remaya square and through the gates to Hadaye’ El-Ahram, are being built as part of a project to develop and expand Fayoum Road itself.
As of late, Egypt has been focused on improving road safety and alleviating traffic, in addition to improving public transportation – such as through the upcoming Line 4 of the Cairo Metro, as well as the introduction of the much-anticipated monorail. The country is now turning its attention to pedestrian safety, with recent news of the establishment of three pedestrian footbridges on the Fayoum Road, heading from El-Remaya square and through the gates to Hadaye’ El-Ahram.
This all falls under a project to develop and expand Fayoum Road itself, starting from the intersection with the Ring Road to El-Remaya square. The development project entails transforming the road to be 16KM long and 4-9 lanes wide. This segment of Fayoum Road serves residents of Al-Remaya square, Hadaye’ El-Ahram, and hosts the route to Al-Wahat Road and Hadabet El-Ahram. This development project is also meant to facilitate the route to the Grand Egyptian Museum for local visitors of the museum, and to the surrounding area of the Pyramids Plateau.
