Egypt's First Sports Science College To Be Established in New Capital
The new college will be part of the University of East London’s faculty, consistently ranked amongst top three universities for sports studies in London.
Egypt’s first college for sports science and medicine is set to be established in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), the first of its kind in the country. The college will be part of the University of East London faculty (UEL), in the European Universities campus. The UEL is consistently ranked in the top three universities in London for sports studies, with this latest opening representing a significant step for Egypt in its development of a wide variety of university faculties, many of which are being founded in the NAC.
In a sport-obsessed country such as Egypt, with huge national interest in football particularly, the opening of this college will cater to many who want to enter the sports sector from a scientific or medical direction. The recent story of Mohammed Salah’s return to England for treatment and rehabilitation, following an injury sustained in the Africa Cup of Nations, brought the issue of domestic sports science to the forefront of many minds in Egypt. The opening of colleges such as UEL’s is the first step towards improving the country’s ability to provide the best support for athletes from all sports.
