The Egyptian Cabinet posted on their official Facebook page yesterday, March 25th, a list of the various services and activities that are exempt from the state-imposed curfew that has been implemented to contain the Coronavirus. Here’s a breakdown of the services that are free to operate during curfew hours:

FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES

  • Supermarkets outside malls.
  • Selling points for subsidized food products.

WATER TREATMENT AND EXTRACTION SERVICES

  • Water companies’ emergency services.
  • Water treatment, extraction, desalination and draining stations.

HEALTH SERVICES

  • Hospitals.
  • Medical labs.
  • Clinics.
  • Medical supply factories.
  • Health offices.
  • Pharmacies.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

  • Transportation of all necessary products for the medical and food industries.
  • Ship ports.
  • Customs clearances.
  • All workers/drivers needed for the above services.

ENERGY SERVICES

  • Gas stations.
  • Emergency services for electrical companies and stations.
  • Emergency services for gas companies.

INSURANCE SERVICES

  • Health insurance representatives responsible for approving medical and pharmaceutical bills.

COMMUNICATION SERVICES

  • Employees involved in the operation and maintenance of telecommunication and internet services.

BANKING SERVICES

  • Employees involved in the operation and maintenance of cashless purchasing (VISA, Mastercard etc.) and ATM machines.

The cabinet also urges all employees involved in the above exempted services to take all safety and health precautions in accordance with their respective industries.
