Egypt Invests EGP 152 Million to Develop Giza's Public Hospitals to Fight COVID-19

With the arrival of 50 thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the news that Egypt has ordered 20 million doses from Pfizer and 30 million more from AstraZeneca, there's hope for enough vaccines to reach everyone who needs it. It's just a matter of distribution, not just of the vaccines, but of quality care.

To that end, Egypt has allocated EGP 152 million through the Central Bank of Egypt to develop the Giza governorate’s public hospitals, which should improve their infrastructure and better equip them with medical devices. The funds will also go towards improving their emergency response units.

The governor of Giza, Major General Ahmed Rashid, announced that three health centres in the Giza governorate have already been designated as places where people can take the vaccine, as part of the vaccine campaign in the Mit Oqba, Awseem and El-Saf areas.
