EGP 1 Billion to be Allocated Towards Buying Preventative Medical Supplies

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Tuesday that a budget of EGP 1 billion, or USD 63.69 million, will be allocated to the Ministry of Health, and will go towards the purchase of a large amount of preventative medical supplies that are needed to slow down the spread of COVID-19 among civilians.

The decision comes after the announcement of an overnight curfew yesterday, March 24th, which included a sweeping set of closures for restaurants, sports clubs and youth centres, among other establishments. In the next two weeks, places of worship, flights, and schools will also have to extend their pause as the country continues to go through quarantine.
