Dr Magdi Yacoub & Pope Francis Sign Agreement for Medical Partnership

Dr. Magdi Yacoub - the famous Egyptian surgeon and founder of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, a charitable NGO dedicated to treating children with cardiatric diseases - flew to Vatican City to meet with His Holiness Pope Francis. During the meeting, they signed an agreement of cooperation, wherein the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation will share their medical expertise and assistance in medical research with the Bambino Gesù del Cairo Onlus, a maternity and paediatric hospital at the New Administrative Capital.

The Bambino Gesù del Cairo Onlus is one of two major projects by the Bambino Gesù Association, a non-profit organisation established in 2020 to promote social solidarity. During the meeting, a presentation was held that reviewed progress made on the hospital as well as their other major project, the Oasi della Pietà, a Cairo orphanage run by the Coptic Church.
