Cyclists To Reclaim Zamalek Roads For Orange Bike Day 2015

Cycling is becoming an increasingly popular way of getting around Egypt and staying healthy. On November 20th, this will be extremely apparent in Zamalek; the island is set for an orange cycling takeover as Orange Bike Day returns for its fourth annual installment.

Once again, The Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt is organising an event showcasing the country's favourite mode of transportation: cycling. Last year, an estimated 3,000 cyclist participated in the event and this year's is expected to be even bigger.

The starting point for the event will be at the Embassy of Netherlands at 7:30 AM, with the ride departing at 8:30 AM sharp. To be part of the orange sea of cyclists, participants must register with the embassy ahead of the event. If you do not have bike, a limited number of bike rentals will be available on a first-come first-serve basis ahead of the event. There will be no rentals on the day of, so, if you plan on renting a bike, do it ahead of time following the procedure described on the Facebook event page.

This amazing event comes once a year and is a must-ride for any Cairene cyclist. Memorable and fun, this well-organised event continues to grow and spread awareness that cycling in Egypt is not only possible but a healthier, less frustrating alternative to commuting around Cairo.
