Coaches for Monorail to New Administrative Capital to be Imported by July 2021

Yet another railway project is set in store for Cairo, as the Cairo Monorail project prepares for its next phase— the part where we import the actual coaches. As of July 2021, the project will begin receiving the passenger coaches for the monorail, after the consortium has already completed 80 percent of the project’s design and 90% of the soil work. By the time the concrete structure work is finished, the coaches will have already been well on their way.

The project will connect the New Administrative Capital with Mohammed Ben Zayed, Street 90, Mosheir Al Tantawy Axis, Nasr City’s 7th district, Cairo International Stadium, and Youssef Abass Street.

The construction consortium is made up of Bombardier Transportation, Orascom Construction, and Arab Contractors. In total, the project will have 22 stations at a total length of 54 kilometres, and a budget of three billion Euros.
