Cairo's Mysterious Baron Palace Will Be Fully Restored by 2019

We've passed by the Baron Palace many times before in Heliopolis, and some of us have even made attempts to sneak in. The palace, however, still remains a mystery, with its conspicuous Hindu architectural design standing out amidst other Egyptian buildings.

Khaled El Anani, Antiquities Minister, has announced that the palace's restoration will finally be complete within a year, and that it's currently 50% through the process. The palace has been undergoing restoration work since August 2017.

The total cost of the restoration project is reportedly EGP 10 million.

The Baron palace, built at the end of the 19th century was once open and available for people to visit and tour in the 1990s; however, it's been closed off ever since, and visitors are no longer allowed inside.
