CAF Football Awards to Be Held in Hurghada

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Hurghada as the host city for the 27th edition of the CAF Football Awards, according to CGTN Africa.

Held in Dakar, Senegal in 2019, the awards will honour the year's best in men's and women's African football across several award categories, including African Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Goal of the Year, Africa Finest XI and Federation of the Year.

The most coveted of CAF's awards is African Footballer of the Year, which has been won by Egypt and Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, in the last two years.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing the CAF Awards take place here in the Albatross Citadel resort in Hurghada,” CAF President Ahmad Ahmad said of the decision. “I’m certain that our guests will talk as much about the location, on the shores of the Red Sea, as they will the awards.”

Ahmad, who was voted in as president in 2017 and serves as the head of the football federation of Madagascar, also revealed that new awards will be introduced this year.
