Aswan Water Sports Festival Sets Sail on August 21st

Call us biased, but we’re pretty there aren't many backdrops for paddle boarding as stunning and archaeologically-rich as Aswan’s Philae Island. Giving us a chance to get our board on there is the Upper Egyptian city’s upcoming water sports festival, organised by the Nile Kayak Club under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Canoe and Kayak Federation. The event – which will take place from November 21st-November 22nd 2020 - will be the first of its kind, and will target the local, regional and international kayaking and Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) communities in a way that should appeal to both beginners and advanced athletes.

The first day sees a 7KM open marathon for kayaking and SUP for all levels. If you don’t have your own gear, don’t fret because gears are also available for rental. On the second day, the event will host a 14KM SUP race – as part of the EuroTourSUP races, which will be an international competition for advanced paddle boarders with an EUR 1500 prize.
