Amazon Officially Launches in Egypt

Goodbye, Souq.com. Since 2010 you've brought home all those items we're too lazy to leave our bedrooms for. When Amazon started operating through you in 2017, you've been turning into something bigger, something more... global. Now your transformation is complete. Amazon.eg is officially online, bringing the international delivery service into the country while adopting Souq.com's prices and payment options.

Everyone who has signed up to Souq.com will have already had all of their information moved to Amazon.eg, including their log-in information, their addresses, their wish lists and their preferred delivery methods. Their current orders will continue to be delivered without interruption, and their Souq.com wallet will not be changed as well.

The launch of the website coincides with the inauguration of Amazon's local logistics centre in Sharqia's 10th of Ramadan City. The 28,000 square metre storage and shipping facility is built to ensure swift delivery throughout Egypt. Amazon has already invested over EGP 1 billion into Egypt, employing 3,000 workers across their newly established corporate and customer service offices nationwide.
