All Restrictions Lifted on Religious Gatherings for Ramadan 2023

The Ministry of Awqaf will lift all restrictions on religious gatherings for Ramadan 2023. Most of these restrictions were first implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, in order to reduce risk of infection throughout the Holy Month. Now, all mosques across Egypt will return to hosting Taraweeh, Tahajjud, and I’tikaaf, as well as intensifying religious knowledge lessons, and arranging for Quranic reciters to rotate regularly.

Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf, also announced the full return of Al-Rahman banquets or iftar tables. Additionally, the Ministry of Awqaf - in cooperation with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade and the Ministry of Social Solidarity - will provide and distribute one million bags of food commodities to vulnerable families to be funded from their own resources, and 300 tons of meat within the framework of the sacrificial and feeding Sukuk project.
