Alexandria is Getting a Surface Metro Line at USD 2.5 Billion

If you're looking for rail-based transport in Alexandria, you've got two options: you could either get on the tram, or you don't. Those are your options. But things are changing in the coastal city - a metro line from Abu Qir all the way to Burg al-Arab will soon be established at an estimated cost of USD 2.5 billion, alongside the development of the existing ’al-Raml’ tram line.

The metro line will stretch out for 43 kilometres, six of which will be on an overpass, with the remainder running over the surface of the city. The line will be developed over three stages; from Abu Qir to Misr station, then from Misr station to al-Max, and finally from al-Max to the end of the line at Burg al-Arab.
