Aid Caravan Arrives in Aswan After Sudden Thunderstorms

An aid caravan from the Tahya Misr Fund and the Orman Association has arrived in Aswan, providing relief to 14 villages and 2,000 families who were forced to leave their homes after they were flooded by a sudden thunderstorm last weekend.

The thunderstorms were responsible for the mass scorpion attack that made headlines earlier this week, after the rain washed the scorpions down from their nests near the mountains. Hundreds of these cases are currently being treated in local hospitals, including Aswan University Hospital and Kom Ombo Central Hospital.

The caravan carries 49 tonnes of food, 2,000 carpets, 2,000 quilts, 2,000 mattresses, and 110 beds. The government of Egypt has pledged EGP 2,000 to each family that was affected by the storm, with an additional EGP 250 for each individual.

The Tahya Misr Fund is currently accepting donations to help the people of Aswan recover from this devastating storm. You can either donate EGP 5 by texting 037037, or visit their website at tahyamisrfund.org
