ALEXBANK Launches Women's Initiative Ghalya at the Women Economic Forum

With a long track of projects for sustainable growth and development, ALEXBANK celebrated the month of March as women’s month by launching its latest initiative ‘Ghalya”: its new platform for women’s empowerment through multiple economic and social initiatives. This female-focused platform was launched by ALEXBANK at the highly anticipated Women Economic Forum (WEF), in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th and Egyptian Women’s Day on March 16th. Bags, giveaways and lanyards at WEF were all created by women through ALEXBANK’s partnership with Baddara Enterprise in New Valley and Dahshour, El Fayrouz Association and the Association for Women Development in Sinai.

'Ghalya' is also endorsed and driven by the bank’s strategic partner in sustainable development, the National Council of Women (NCW), and its national women empowerment initiative 'Taa’ Marboota', which supports and empowers Egyptian women and local female entrepreneurs.

ALEXBANK further demonstrated their commitment by partnering with female-founded social enterprise The Doodle Factory to create a custom-made women’s kit that was distributed to all female employees across ALEXBANK’s 210 branches. As is the norm with The Doodle Factory, the kit was created using children’s drawings with the profits going to projects targeting at-risk children.

'Ghalya' will be the bank’s hub for all female-focused initiatives and aims to create significant positive impact in various fields such as education, health and wellbeing, creative economy, entrepreneurship and employment. We’re set to see Ghalya putting women working at ALEXBANK and across Egypt at the center of its sustainable growth and value creation cycle, resulting in a more empowered society across all social levels.
