1,200 Egyptian Students Cross Border from Ukraine to Poland

Over 1,200 Egyptian students living in Ukraine have safely crossed the border into Poland, and 250 more have reached Romania.

So far, Egyptian students in Ukraine’s west have had easier access to bordering countries Romania, Poland, and Hungary, compared to students staying in Kharkiv, which is currently under heavy attack.

The Egyptian Ministry of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs has not recorded any deaths of Egyptians in Ukraine. One Egyptian citizen has been shot, and is currently in stable condition.

Hungary requires Egyptians entering the country to have an unexpired passport and unexpired Ukrainian residence permit.

The Egyptian embassy in Poland will receive Egyptians coming in from Ukraine even if they do carry expired passports. Upon reaching the border, the Egyptian embassy will issue temporary travel documents to help them return to Egypt.

The Egyptian embassy in Romania has asked Egyptians with expired passports to contact them, as they are working with the local authorities to facilitate their entry into Romania from Ukraine.
