Orange & AXA Acquire Majority Stake in Moroccan Healthtech DabaDoc

Moroccan e-health startup DabaDoc has been jointly-acquired by telecommunications company Orange’s Middle East and Africa division, and insurance provider AXA Assurance Maroc. Founded in 2014, the platform offers users and patients digitised access to healthcare professionals across the North African Maghrebi region.   Under its new Orange and AXA parent company, the platform is eyeing a further expansion.

Merem Chemi, the CEO of AXA Assurance Maroc, outlined: “This ambition is even stronger as we are facing an unprecedented health crisis. Through this partnership, we therefore aim to enable patients to access a better healthcare journey in Morocco and to support DabaDoc through its development in the CIMA countries as well.”

Through the use of Orange’s technological support and AXA’s healthcare resources, DabaDoc plans to scale across the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.
