Just in Time for Ramadan: Saudi Police Make Historic Alcohol Seizure

Saudi Arabia is the home of Islam and during the holy month of Ramadan the last thing you would imagine to hear is the Religious Police have confiscated 1300 cartons of imported liquor.

The massive discovery was made in the capital Riyadh, by Saudi religious police, officially known as the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. Allegedly, the discovery is the largest quantity liquor ever seized by the religious police and is valued at over SR 18 million.

Alcohol is banned in Islam, and considering that this is the holy month of Ramadan, in the holiest Islamic country, many have expressed dismay over what went down. Allegedly the alcohol was intended to be sold after Ramadan, however the bootleggers didn’t confirm that notion as they are still on the run. As for the alcohol, authorities plan on destroying everything they found, however no further information has been disclosed on its disposal. We have a suggestion, but we’ll save it until after Ramadan.
