Right by the northern shores of the Mediterranian Sea, in the rural governorate of Damietta, a massive urban undertaking has been in the works since 2017. New Mansoura City promises to be a modern community for people of all income levels, and an upgrade to the governorate's capital, Mansoura, which sits just 54 km away and is connected by a 15 minute railway commute. And now, in May 2021, the first phase of this urban development is declared to be 98% complete.

The first phase of New Mansoura City is approximately 2,063 feddans, and will make up 40% of the city's total area. It will have 25,000 residential units built with modern architectural designs, including 196 Sakan Masr residential buildings for middle-income Egyptians with 4,704 housing units, the New Mansoura Language School with 33 classrooms, a medical centre built with medical tourism in mind, and eight commercial markets.

New Mansoura City also features its own Corniche, with walkways, playgrounds, internet areas, cafeterias and a bike lane over 4.2 km.
