AUC CEI & Shorooq Partners Launch Venture Capital Case Competition

The AUC Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) is joining forces with Shorooq Partners, a leading early-stage venture capital fund in the Middle East, to launch the Shorooq Partners Venture Capital Case Competition in Egypt.

The competition aims to train and upskill students by allowing them to assume the role of a venture capitalist through a simulation, where they invest $100k in a startup. Students will be provided with real data to assess, perform due diligence, evaluate investment prospects, and develop investment plans, which will then be presented to a judging panel from Shorooq Partners.

As a pilot program, the competition is only open to AUC multidisciplinary undergraduate junior and senior students. In the upcoming rounds, however, it will be expanded to Egyptian students in public and private universities, according to Shorooq Partners.

In addition to providing students with an opportunity to develop and strengthen their analytical, critical and entrepreneurship skills, the competition will also enable students to be exposed to a real startup pitch deck and a capacity-building training session provided by an expert from Shorooq Partners. A $4,000 prize will be awarded to the top teams during the closing of the competition in February.
