4G in Egypt Set to Cost 3.54 Billion EGP
Ahram Online reports that in a statement to the Egyptian stock exchange, Orange Egypt has disclosed the price that Egypt’s telecom regulator is charging for a license to deploy a 4G mobile network.

For a paltry 3.54 billion Egyptian pounds (half of which needs to be paid in dollars), telecommunications companies can buy an opportunity to overhaul Egypt’s lagging wireless communication infrastructure.

That’s one hell of a starting offer from the regulators. Hopefully, Orange and the other mobile service providers in Egypt will have a chance to negotiate or else our mobile bills are about to get a lot more expensive.
