Downtown Cairo’s Zawya Cinema - hub for independent filmmakers and alternative films - has launched a new website to bring its tight community closer together, showcasing everything the space has to offer, including film programmes, releases, bookings, a calendar detailing upcoming cultural and cinematic events, and an online store filled with their edgy artsy-coded merch.

Founded in March 2014, Zawya emerged as one of Egypt’s first independent cinemas, aiming to bridge a significant gap in the city’s cinematic and cultural landscape. With a schedule encompassing both theatrical releases and thoughtfully curated programmes, Zawya makes sure to dedicate their attention to local independent films, advocating for the works of emerging Egyptian and Arab filmmakers.
