Tuwaiq Sculpture Carves Out a Space for Larger-Than-Life Art in Riyadh

Bringing the art of sculpting directly to the capital of Saudi Arabia, the fifth edition of Tuwaiq Sculpture will return to Riyadh to present a vibrant showcase of 30 local and international artists, each of whom will be sculpting new works live throughout the event. Tuwaiq Sculpture is part of the Riyadh Art program, which aims to transform Riyadh into an expansive “gallery without walls” featuring over 1,000 artworks over the coming years.

Launched in 2019, Tuwaiq Sculpture has involved 120 local and international artists, fostering engagement with thousands of visitors. Curated by Marek Wolynski and Fahad Aljebreen, Tuwaiq Sculpture 2024 explores the theme 'Dimensions of Movement,' symbolising progress and expansion in sync with the accelerating advancements of modern society; a reflection of the changes Riyadh itself is undergoing.

Artists from 20 countries will sculpt exclusively in granite, showcasing their adaptability and creativity. The live sculpting sessions will take place at ROSHN from January 14th to February 8th, 2024, allowing visitors to witness the creative process live before their eyes.

The public program at ROSHN Front will feature panel talks, workshops, and masterclasses exploring diverse sculptural forms and materials. The program also includes educational visits by local schools and universities. After 23 days of sculpting, the completed artworks will be exhibited at ROSHN from February 12th to the 24th, before being permanently relocated across Riyadh.
