TikTok Creators Celebrated at CIFF with #FilmOnTikTok Competition
Worlds collided as TikTok put on their own #FilmOnTikTok contest at the Cairo International Film Festival, inviting Egypt’s most innovative young filmmakers to showcase their short-form ingenuity.
The Cairo International Film Festival - where global superstars gather! Where decorated directors get together! And where we get to see cinematic releases from the world’s hottest arthouses, the most distinguished studios and this year, TikTok! It’s no secret that TikTok has its own crowd of world-famous talents, but during the latest edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, worlds collided as TikTok put on their own #FilmOnTikTok contest, inviting Egypt’s most innovative young filmmakers to showcase their short-form ingenuity. With only three minutes of film time to tell their stories, three winners managed to rise above the rest.
Ali Khaled, also known as a 'Photoshop Hustler', won 'Best Short Film on TikTok' for his work, titled 'Noorha Ikhtafa' (Her Light Disappeared). Hamdi Ashour took home 'Best Actor on TikTok' for his role in 'Tatu', while Amal Samir won 'Best Actress on TikTok' for 'Keramtak' ('Your Dignity'). Keep in mind that all these films were picked from a selection of ten submissions for each category - a huge collection of innovative storytelling, right there.
