Sultan's Fair Showcases Artisanal Traditions of the City of the Dead

Hand-blown glass, hammered copper, intricate silver lanterns - all quintessential works of precious Egyptian heritage crafts. Crafts that, frankly, deserve a bigger place in our modern homes. Elevating heritage crafts to their rightful pedestal in one of the most historically significant spots in the capital, the Sultan Handicrafts Fair is heading to the Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey - a cultural centre in the City of the Dead - to support local craftsmen by displaying a wide array of handmade goods from Cairene vendors.

The fair is an annual event that hopes to revive Egyptian cultural heritage through modern, everyday products that still embrace that traditional aesthetic. At the fair, you will also be able to enjoy traditional music from  an ‘Accordionella’ band, as well as a graceful contemporary dance show titled ‘Him and Her’.

Some of the vendors there will  include leather and jewellery brand Mishkā, traditional footwear label Bulga, and Ain Silverworks. The fair will take place on December 18th, from 3 PM to 9 PM.
