Russell Brand in Negotiations to Star in Upcoming Movie Adaptation of Egypt-Set 'Death on the Nile'

Following on as a sequel to the 2017 blockbuster, Murder on the Orient Express, the upcoming Death on the Nile has been announced to be in the pre-production and casting phase, with British comedian and actor, Russell Brand, reportedly set to join a cast that already includes Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, Kenneth Baranagh and Leitia Wright.

Based on the immensely popular 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie, the best-selling novelist in history, the plot centers around a murder mystery which takes place aboard a Nile cruise touring Egypt in the early 20th century.

Shooting, for which the location hasn't yet been announced, is set to start this September, with the movie set to hit theatres in October 2020.

Christie was known for her admiration for Egypt, particularly the city of Aswan, where she often resided in the iconic Sofitel Legend Old Cataract (at the time simply known as the Old Cataract Hotel), seeking inspiration and seclusion to write her novels. The novel met massive success, and has been adapted in theatre, TV, radio shows, and even as a computer game and a graphic novel.
