'Hamel al-Lakab' Picked as Closing Film at Malmö Arab Film Festival

Egyptian comedy 'Hamel al-Lakab' has been picked as the closing film at Sweden’s Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF), the largest film festival dedicated to Arab cinema outside the Arab world.

Starring Dina El Sherbiny and Hesham Maged (who also helped write the script), 'Hamel al-Lakab' is about a famous football player named Yehia and Misk, a successful gynecologist, who try to conceive a child together. After years of failure, they finally manage to get pregnant - except it's Yehia who's bearing the child.

The film first premiered in Egypt's Zamalek Cinema last February before being released across the Arab world.

The MAFF was founded in 2011 as a platform for Arab cinema in Europe, and has since grown to represent Arab film in the region. The 12th edition of the MAFF will take place on May 9th.
