Egypt's 'Henet Ward' Wins Best Short Film Award at Prestigious UK Film Festival

spotlight on racism faced by refugees in Egypt, short film ‘Henet Ward’
(2020) – directed by Morad Mostafa - has just won the award for Best
Short Film at the UK’s 'Film Africa'. The film festival is dedicated to
celebrating the best that African cinema has to offer, facilitating
African filmmakers to present their work to UK audiences.
This isn’t the first time the film has been recognized internationally. In June of this year, Henet Ward received a Special Mention of the Jury at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (where it was the only Egyptian film selected) and participated at the Oscar-qualifying Nashville Film Festival In October 2020, as well as the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the biggest international film festival dedicated to short films, where it was nominated for the Grand Prix prize.
Henet Ward follows the story of Halima, a Sudanese henna artist, and her daughter Ward, who are hired to prepare the bride from a privileged Egyptian family on the day of her wedding.
