This is the twelfth annual forum.
The twelfth annual Cairo International Animation Forum (CIAF) kicks off today. The arts event will include screenings of animated films, seminars, workshops, and awards for best design, scenography and scenario, as well an animated films market among other things cartoon-lovers will be overjoyed to see.
One of the more interactive features are the inter-competitions held during the forum that encourage animators to compete on series, feature-lengths, commercials, and even for students. So basically the event has a li'l something for everyone.
Involved in the annual forum is the Supreme Organization Committee, Talaat Harb Cultural Center, Egyptian Animation Society and Cultural Development Fund. The goal of the forum is to draw audience attention to the importance of the art form, which is locally underexposed and unfairly dismissed as juvenile, and encourages interaction between local and international animators to diversify and expand the understandings and tastes present in the industry.
