Arts-Mart's Cairo Art Fair II: The Largest Exhibition of Contemporary Egyptian Art to Date

Art has always been baffling in its complexity – sometimes it can be breathtakingly expressive and visually mesmerising; other times, we just stand there with a quizzical look on our faces as we awkwardly examine a head-scratching Picasso, fearing that someone may detect that its artistic value is lost on us.

The good news, however, is that you don’t need to be a member of the exclusive art cognoscenti club to buy a painting, because Arts-Mart is, and they’re willing to help you make a killing while contributing to Egypt’ thriving art scene.

Following the smashing success of the first edition of Arts-Mart’s Cairo Art Fair, the online and offline gallery is gearing up for another round, and this time it promises to be an even bigger and better affair with more than 100 of Egypt’s finest contemporary artists all set to unveil their latest works there, and over 700 artworks to be exhibited, from paintings and sculptures all the way to photographs. “The art on display comes from all corners of Egypt. It explores a variety of contemporary themes, mindsets & beliefs. It spans several generations, showcasing true and pure Egyptian talent. Now is the perfect time to invest in art and this will definitely be the right place for it,” Arts-Mart Managing Director Lina Mowafy said in a press release.
Cairo Art Fair II is set to take place at Arts-Mart’s showroom from December 9th, 2016 until February 15th, 2017 and it promises an all-encompassing art experience which not only allows attendees to view and acquire artwork, but also gives them an immersive experience equivalent to taking a walk through Egypt’s contemporary art scene.

You can expect to see masterpieces by Egyptian contemporary artists Mohamed Abla, George Bahgoury, Khaled Zaki, Hossam Dirar, Karim Abdelmalak, Mohamed El Damarawy, Ibrahim El Tanbouli, Lina Mowafy, Britt Boutros Ghali, Nazli Madkour, Deena Fadel, Klay Kassem, Mohamed Sabry, Lubna Abdelaziz, Gamal Meleka, Eman Ossama, Assem Abdelfattah, Khaled Hafez and many more.

“We expect this edition to be exceptionally good. We are building on the success of the previous shows & using what we learned to bring Cairo an evolved & novel art experience,” Mowafy tells us. “A lot of artists have worked very hard to make this possible, and the gallery has put so much effort to produce a harmonious exhibition of this magnitude.”

However, Arts-Mart’s Cairo Art Fair II won’t be entirely dominated by established Egyptian contemporary artists, Mowafy has assured us, “The fair will feature artists who have never exhibited before; there will be several fresh talents.”

It’s never the wrong time to invest in art, especially not when the economy is falling apart and the Egyptian pound’s value is hitting new lows on an hourly basis. Art may seem like a luxury now, but it is actually a savvy investment at an opportune time.
